Hostal English Day Program

HOSTEL ENGLISH LANGUAGE TRAINING PROGRAM AND ENGLISH DAY

With the objective of developing the English language competency of students residing at the College hostel and instilling self-confidence which will enable students to become global citizens, the 2006 Group of the Ananda College OBA initiated the Hostel English Language Training Programme in 2018, providing financial and logistical support for this project. Gihan Samarawickrama, an Old Anandian who was also a former Deputy Head Prefect, former Captain of the English Debating Team and former President of the Broadcasting Unit, is the dedicated trainer shouldering this important responsibility. Gihan’s dedication towards training students was aptly demonstrated at the first ever Ananda College Hostel English Day event held in 2019, where students showcased their talents through dramas, competitive debates and oratory segments. The overwhelming positive reaction from the audience was testament to the success of the programme. This is one of the most transformative projects ever undertaken by the Ananda College OBA, transforming and uplifting the language skill of the students enabling them to scale new heights in the future.
