Since its founding in 1886, Ananda College has remained a beacon of hope for the country, steadfastly instilling the virtues of compassion, loving-kindness, sympathetic-joy and equanimity in its students, who have gone on to serve the nation with merit. It is with these same virtues that Ananda College continues to contribute towards the lasting peace, trust and respect between the nations’ diverse and vibrant communities through collaborative efforts. The annual cricket and English debating encounter between the students of Ananda College Colombo and Jaffna Hindu College is one such collaborative celebration of a shared bond to promote peace and harmony in our nation.
The Old Boys Associations of Ananda College and Jaffna Hindu College
organise the annual event in collaboration and consultation with one another. The 2006 Group of the Ananda College OBA is tasked with organising the Colombo leg of the Panikkar- Thanabalasingham Memorial English Debate held biennially. We consider it as a great privilege and responsibility to organise this event which continues to foster a spirit of companionship, trust and respect between the North and South communities of our Motherland.
